This article highlights positive guidance strategies in an early childhood setting using the three steps of a Powerful Interaction—Be Present, Connect, and Extend Learning. Powerful Interactions, interactions in which a teacher intentionally connects with a child to extend his or her learning, can help teachers be more successful at building strong, caring relationships with children and families.
