Feelings Circle Time Example
The Program-Wide Positive Behavior Support Project at the University of South Florida presents a circle time example at a family child care home where the teacher uses a mirror to teach emotional literacy. Each child has an opportunity to look in the mirror and the teacher helps them label their feelings by asking how they’re feeling today. Additionally, the children go up to a visual feelings wheel and move the arrow to point to the face that shows how they are feeling. The teacher points out the facial expressions of the child with the mirror out loud so the others can also see and hear how that child is feeling.
